About migraine

Migraine is a long-term condition. Migraine episodes can cause reoccurring severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, and difficulty speaking. Other symptoms include sensitivity to light and sound or difficulty thinking.

Migraine can be episodic or chronic. With episodic migraine, a person has migraine headaches fewer than 15 days per month. Chronic migraine occurs when a person has migraine headaches 15 or more days per month for at least 3 months.

It’s not understood what exactly causes migraine or why certain people are affected by it. It’s believed that atypical chemical and electrical signaling in the brain causes this condition.

About Nurtec ODT

Nurtec ODT may be taken daily to help prevent migraine symptoms in adults with episodic migraine. It is not used for this purpose in people with chronic migraine. The drug can also be prescribed and used as needed to treat migraine episodes in adults.

Nurtec ODT treats or helps prevent migraine by blocking the actions of a protein called calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). Among other actions, CGRP causes blood vessels in your head to widen, which is thought to lead to migraine symptoms.
